Personal Profile

Hazel registered as a midwife in 1983 and then worked predominantly as a community midwife until becoming a midwifery lecturer in 1992. She has a special interest in postnatal care, infant feeding and promoting evidence-based practice. She is also passionate about supporting women to breastfeed successfully and, in 2011, achieved Baby Friendly accreditation for the midwifery programmes at Oxford Brookes University. Further to this, she set up the Oxford Brookes Baby Cafe at Oxford University Hospitals NHS Trust. Hazel also has a particular interest and expertise in research ethics and is currently Chair of both the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences and the University Research Ethics Committees.
