Personal Profile

Louise Hunter joined Oxford Brookes as a Senior Lecturer in Midwifery in November 2014. She previously lectured at the University of West London (UWL) and worked as a community midwife in Oxford. Louise’s PhD research looked at the obstacles to young mothers initiating and continuing to breastfeed in the early days after birth.

Whilst at UWL she achieved Baby Friendly status for the midwifery programmes there. Louise’s current projects include skin-to-skin contact and the impact of relationships on the potentials of physical environments. She is also exploring the potential of Mindfulness in midwifery education.
